PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH YOUR GUESTS AND RENTERS. IF YOU HAVE SOMEONE WHO CLEANS YOUR HOME OR MANAGES YOUR PROPERTY, PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH THEM, AS WELL.
Please visit the Trash and Recycling Page for an overview.
Can I have more than two containers? In order to keep costs down, and to allow the two-man crew to manually pick up trash, homeowners are assigned one brown, 35-gallon container for refuse and one blue, 35-gallon container for recycling material. Additional containers and sizes are not permitted.
I have bulky items that don't fit in the dumpster. Who do I call?: Please call Junk Haul Junior at 760-472-1831 to assist with properly disposing of your item(s) for a fee. (He will also dispose of e-waste.)
When is trash pickup? Mondays beginning at 7:00 AM. Includes holidays unless notified otherwise. Homeowners will be notified if trash pickup is delayed via e-blast and a notice posted on the Current Events & Updates Page of this website.
Please note that a separate vendor is responsible for green waste pickup, which usually begins after refuse pickup.
When can I place my containers out? To help control "visual blight", and because wind and wildlife can quickly scatter trash, containers may not be placed out earlier than Sunday afternoon and later than 7:00 AM on Monday morning.
Where do I store my containers? Containers must be placed out of view in the garage.
If you are leaving on the weekend, and will not be able to place your containers back in the garage after trash pickup on Monday, we recommend not placing your trash cans out, but instead disposing of your trash in the community dumpsters before leaving. Otherwise, you may want to see if there’s someone else who can place your containers back in the garage for you. This will help avoid any violation letters and potential fines.
What if two containers are not enough? If you have additional trash or recycling that cannot fit into your containers, or if you are leaving prior to Sunday afternoon, excess trash/recycling should be placed in the community dumpsters.
Items must be placed inside the dumpsters. The refuse company does not pick up any items that are left outside of the dumpster, and Rams Hill does not have additional staff to pick up improperly disposed trash or recycling items around the community dumpsters. If the dumpster is full, please wait until the dumpster has been emptied before you attempt to fit your items in.
Please see the map below for the community dumpster location.
How do I access the community dumpster enclosure? Please use the side gate to access the enclosure. The large gates at the front of the enclosure are to be utilized by the refuse company only, while the side gate is intended for homeowner use. (To open the gate, please pull it towards you instead of pushing, since pushing results in the gate getting stuck in the top of the enclosure.)
A lock has been placed on the front gate in an attempt to stop those who are illegally dumping bulky items, construction debris, and green waste. Again, please use the side homeowner gate to access the enclosure.
Please do not place items outside of the enclosure or on the ground outside of the dumpsters.
If the dumpster is full, please wait until the dumpster has been emptied before you attempt to fit your items in.
What day is trash picked up for the Community dumpsters?:
- The recycle dumpster is picked up on Thursdays.
- The trash dumpster is picked up on Fridays.
Why aren't the dumpsters picked up more than once a week? As many of you may already know, one of the challenges of living in a rural area is the scarcity of services, vendors, and amenities. Currently, there are no refuse companies that offer pickup service more than once a week to Borrego Springs.
When is green waste pickup? Mondays starting at 7:00 AM. Green waste will not be picked up on a holiday that falls on a Monday, but will instead be picked up on the following day.
Please note that the HOA landscape crew is responsible for green waste pickup. A separate crew picks up refuse and usually begins before green waste.
Can vendors place refuse in the community dumpsters? No. The community dumpsters are for homeowners only and may not be used by vendors. Vendors must haul away and properly dispose of their materials. Any vendors found dumping material in the community dumpsters will be asked to leave the property. Homeowners are responsible for sharing this information with the vendors they hire.
May I put out more than one green waste bag/container? Not at this time. In order to keep costs down for the Association, and to allow the landscape crew to accommodate this service, green waste pickup is offered with the following requirements:
- One bag per household per week
- Landscape waste must be bagged and placed at the curb (loose green waste will not be picked up)
- Heavy-duty trash bags (or the reusable RYOBI Lawn and Leaf bag available from Home Depot) must be used
- Green waste should not be placed out at the curb earlier than Sunday evening
- Green waste must be placed curbside no later than 7:00 AM on Mondays
Are my landscapers allowed to dispose of green waste in the community dumpsters? No. Neither vendors nor homeowners may dispose of green waste in the community dumpsters. Landscapers must properly dispose of green waste at the local dump.
Please note that the community dumpsters may not be used by vendors, which includes landscapers. Any vendors found dumping material in the community dumpsters will be asked to leave the property. Homeowners are responsible for sharing this information with their landscapers.
Why was my trash/recycling/green waste not picked up? The first question is: Did you place your containers out after 7:00 AM? If so, they were likely placed out too late and the crew has already been through your area. Please remember that trash pickup begins early, and ensure your containers are at the curb so they are not missed. Please contact the HOA office so we can see if the vendor is still on the property and if they can accommodate the special pickup request. If not, you will need to dispose of your refuse at the community dumpsters.
There may be an issue. If your trash or recycling was not picked up, the vendor should have left you with either a yellow Trash/Recycling Non-compliance Notice or a green Green Waste Non-compliance Notice. The issue(s) will be checked off on this notice. Please see a copy of the non-compliance notices below:
How do I report a violation RE trash/recycling/green waste? Please report violations to [email protected]. Remember to include who/what/where/when information in the email. If possible, please include a picture.
Can I be fined for non-compliance? Yes. Those found in violation may be subject to a hearing before their board of directors, and fines may be imposed. Homeowners are responsible for their guests and renters during their stay in Rams Hill. Homeowners may be brought into a hearing and fines may be imposed if their guests and/or renters do not abide by the Associations' Governing Documents.
